Siganus virgatus (Laid amphacanth)

Description

This rarely imported fish has a silver white shade, with a more yellowish area on the back. A brown transverse bar crosses the head through the eye. Parallel to the latter, another dark band passes behind the opercule.

The Siganus Virgatus is a fish from the Siganidae family, also known as sea lap, mercilee fish or chien fish. It is a hot water and coral reefs, which is mainly found in tropical and subtropical waters of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

The Siganus Virgatus has an elongated and slender body, with developed pectoral and ventral fins which allow it to quickly move in water. Its color generally varies from dark gray to dark brown, with white or yellow spots which can be more or less pronounced depending on the individual. Sea fish lap also has horns or bosses on the head, which give it a distinctive appearance.

The Siganus Virgatus is a gregarious fish that lives in a group and can reach sizes up to 30 centimeters in length. Sea fish are mainly feeding on soft corals and aquatic plants, but they can also eat algae, crabs and molluscs.
