The Taeniacara Purchaire Fish is a freshwater fish from South America, more precisely rivers and lakes from the Amazon region. It is a gregarious and peaceful fish that lives in benches, which makes it easy to observe in its natural environment.

The Taeniacara Candidi is about 10 centimeters long and has an elongated and slender shape. Its color varies from light gray to dark brown, with vertical stripes on the body and darker spots on the head and tail. The male is generally more colorful than the female, with larger fins and a wider head.

The Taeniacara Candidi is omnivorous and is mainly nourished by small crustaceans, insects and plankton. It can also feed on plants and remains of other fish. The fish reproduces during rainy times, when the water levels of the rivers increase, which allows the female to lay her eggs in nests dug in the mud. The male then takes care of eggs and fry until they are large enough to fend for themselves.

Taeniacara candidi is a common fish in its natural habitat, but it is threatened by water pollution and the destruction of its habitat. It is also a popular fish in the aquarophilia, where it is appreciated for its beautiful color and its peaceful character. However, it needs a large aquarium and quality water to develop fully and live healthy.
