Azolla filiculoides
Description
It is a floating, attractive and popular plant that is easy to maintain but requires good ventilation. The leaves vary from a pale green color to a rusty red dependent on the conditions. The sun sometimes causes a blush of the leaves. It is sometimes sold for a pond plant, even if it dies during the winter. It provides a useful cover for certain surface fish.
Azolla Filiculoides is a floating aquarium plant commonly known as water fern. It has dark and fine green leaves that develop by forming a dense carpet on the surface of the water. This plant also produces small white, pink or red flowers which can appear in summer.
Azolla Filiculoides is easy to maintain and does not require substrate or soil to grow.
