Description

Variable sheet shape. Limited longevity. The juvenile shape has sessile, narrow and tapered leaves. The leaves of the adult plant are cordiforms with a light yellow waving the blade. The leaves developing later are long petiolate and become swimming, they cause the disappearance of submerged leaves. To avoid this, you must use a sandy and lean substrate, the daily lighting must be less than 12 hours.

The Echinodorus Berteroi is an aquarium plant commonly known as "wide leafy" or "plant with water lily". It is native to South America and is widely used in aquariums for its attractive aspect and its relatively low care needs.

This plant has wide and rounded leaves which can reach up to 30 cm in diameter. The leaves are dark green and have a smooth and shiny surface. The plant also produces floating stems that support small white or pink flowers.

The Echinodorus Berteroi prefers a moderately luminous aquarium background environment and must be planted in a nutritive substrate. It also requires a regular supply of nutrients, in particular in iron and potassium, to maintain its growth and its attractive appearance. Although it can be difficult to keep in cold water aquarium, it is relatively easy to maintain in hot water aquariums and can be an interesting addition to any well -established aquarium.
