Echinodorus macrophyllus
Description
This plant produces very wide leaves for its size, hence its name. The leaves are typically 12 inches (30 cm) long and 8 inches (20 cm) wide, pale green and robust in appearance. Under adequate conditions, it will produce a large number of sheets above the surface of the water. Because of its substantial size, this Echinodorus will grow better by being an individual background specimen in a spacious aquarium. Ideal growth conditions include a good intake of iron, fertilization of the substrate and a lot of light. However, this plant is adaptable and should survive well in any type of aquarium. Remove the widest or old leaves and occasionally reducing the roots will prevent the plant from becoming too wide. Requires moderate, intensive with very intensive lighting
