Echinodorus opacus

Echinodorus opacus

Description

The dark shape of the leaves of this plant makes a change for the usual pale green of most echinodorus. It adapts well and is durable, but perhaps slow growth when well established and does not like to be moved. Like all Echinodorus, good fertilization of the substrate and water is necessary, combined with good lighting should contribute to keeping it healthy.

The Echinodorus opacus is an aquarium plant belonging to the alismataceae family. It is a fleshy strain plant which can reach up to 60 cm high and has dark green leaves in the shape of a star. The leaves are arranged alternately on the main rod and can measure up to 15 cm long. The plant also produces white or pink flowers that appear in summer.
