It is found in garden centers among the plants "of cylinders" like hyposestes, pilea, etc. It is not an aquatic plant, but its decorative foliage sometimes makes it use as such.

Fittonia argyroneura is an aquarium plant commonly called fittonia or nerve plant. It is a perennial plant with persistent leaves native to South America. It is characterized by its thin and smooth leaves of dark green color with white or pink veins which form a diamond -shaped pattern. Fittonia argyroneura needs moderate to strong light to prosper in an aquarium and a soil rich in nutrients to develop. It can also be cultivated in a pot with a mixture of soil and sand. Fittonia argyroneura can reach a height of 10 to 15 cm and is easily spread thanks to its stolons which grow from the base of the plant.
