Description

The Vallisneria Spiralis is an aquarium plant commonly known as a spiral or rotating vallerie. It belongs to the Hydrocharitaceae family and is originally from the fresh waters of Africa, Asia and Australia. It is often used in aquariums to provide a home for fish and other aquatic animals, due to its ability to produce oxygen and filter water impurities.

The Vallisneria Spiralis has wide and thick ribbon -shaped leaves, which can measure up to 1.5 meters long. The leaves are dark green on top and white or gray on the bottom, and have a smooth and shiny texture. The plant can produce bright yellow flowers on floating stems on the surface of the water, which can then propagate by producing seeds which are deposited at the bottom of the aquarium.

The Vallisneria Spiralis needs a soil rich in nutrients to develop properly. She prefers a bright light environment, but tolerates the partial shade. The plant can be easily propagated by cutting the leaves in sections of a few centimeters and planting them in the aquarium soil. It is important to maintain a good balance of water by controlling the levels of ammonia, nitrites and nitrates to prevent the plants from dying.
