Description

On the head, the eyes to facets are housed on short peduncles. These eyes seem to be worn in a dome and giving the impression of composing in two parts. Under the eyes are the antennas, used to locate prey. Odontodactylus is armed with a pair of delightful legs capable of very fast movements. The body is covered with a well pronounced green shell in the male, matt green with a brownish drawing in the female. His position during the capture of prey earned him the nickname of shrimp.

Odontodactylus scyllarus is a crustacean belonging to the Stomatopod family. It is a small crustacean, generally measuring about 7 centimeters long. Its shell is generally gray-green in color with darker spots, and is covered with a thin layer of hair.

Its front legs are suitable for hunting and capture of prey, they have long articulated fingers and sharp teeth which allow it to capture and shred its prey.
