Huso dauricus (Kaluga sturgeon)
Description
The Huso Dauricus fish, also known as Sturgeon d'Amour, is a freshwater fish from rivers and central Asian lakes, including the Caspian Sea and Love. It is a large fish, up to 7 meters long and weigh up to 1 ton. It is recognizable by its wide and flattened head, its smooth and silver scales, and its wide and rounded tail.
The Huso Dauricus is a very old fish, belonging to the Acippeurides family. It is estimated that it has existed for more than 100 million years, which makes it one of the oldest fish still in existence today. Its longevity is also impressive, since it can live up to 100 years or more.
The Huso Dauricus is a predatory fish, feeding mainly on smaller fish, molluscs and crustaceans. It is also known for its voracity, being able to eat up to 10% of its weight in one go.
The Huso Dauricus is also known for its delicate and tasty flesh, which is considered to be a choice in many regions of Asia. His caviar, produced from his eggs, is also very popular and is considered one of the most expensive and prestigious caviar in the world.
Unfortunately, the Huso Dauricus is also threatened with extinction due to the overexploitation of its populations, as well as the pollution and destruction of its natural habitat. Many efforts are underway to protect and restore the populations of love Sturgeons, but they remain vulnerable and in danger.
