The Leporinus Arcus fish is a freshwater fish belonging to the Anostomidae family. It measures about 15 cm long and has an elongated and side -compressed body. The Leporinus arcus has a gray-green color on the top of his body, with darker vertical stripes on the sides. Its head is wide and rounded, with prominent eyes and a mouth -shaped mouth.

Leporinus Arcus lives mainly in rivers and lakes in South America, especially in Amazon. It feeds mainly on aquatic plants, small crustaceans and aquatic insects, which he captures with his mouth in the shape of a beak. Leporinus arcus is a gregarious fish and likes to live in a group with other individuals of its species.

Leporinus arcus has a fairly unique reproduction among fish. Females can lay up to 2000 eggs at a time, which are fertilized by males. The eggs hatch about three days later and the fry are autonomous from birth. Leporinus arcus reaches sexual maturity at the age of six months and can live up to five years in its natural habitat.

In general, Leporinus arcus is considered a peaceful and harmless fish. However, it can be aggressive towards smaller fish and can also be a bit territorial.
