Limnaea stagnalis

Adult size6.00 cm
Temperature1 - 28 °C
pH6 - 8

Description

Does not have an operculum, becoming the victim of the rest of the aquarium population if the food is missing. When she dies the Limnea loses the brown color of her shell, the latter quickly becomes translucent. Its large shell at 7 turns, dextrogyre, fragile, is often covered with algae which ensures its camouflage when, curiously, it crawls its head below the surface of the water by spreading a wide oval foot and showing its two tentacles triangular and flattened.

The Limnaea Staglisse snail is a common freshwater snail which is found in wetlands and aquatic environments in the northern hemisphere.
