Neothauma tanganyicense
Description
Aesthetic. Empty shells can accommodate conchylicic cichlids, taking the place in this regard in the shells of Burgundy snail. Quite "lymphatic" snail, moves little and seems to eat exclusively with phytoplankton.
The Neothauma Tanganyicense snail is a small terrestrial snail in the Limacidae family. It has a shiny shell, about 2.5 cm high and 1.5 cm wide, with a smooth and lustrous surface. The color of its shell varies from dark brown to light gray, with zigzag patterns on the surface.
The body of the snail is light gray, with black and white spots on the back and sides. He has a pair of sensory tentacles on his head, with black eyes in the shape of a button at the base of the tentacles. He also has a pair of short and muscular legs to move.
The Neothauma Tanganyicense snail is endemic to the Tanganyika region in East Africa, where it lives in humid forests and wetlands near lakes and rivers. It feeds mainly on herbaceous leaves and plants, using its graying tongue to nibble on plants.
It is considered a vulnerable species due to the fragmentation of its natural habitat and the impact of human activities on its environment.
