Description
Short, thick and pointed Epines. Black to Red Brown. Some red shades on the body or thorns. From the most common in the shallow and tidal but sometimes much deeper rocky areas. Pierces holes in the substrate they occupy during the day. Are nourished near their holes during the night.
Echinometra Lucunter is a marine invertebrate belonging to the Echinometridae family. It is a medium -sized sea urchin, measuring about 5 cm in diameter. Its shell is covered with short and thick spicy, gray-brown in color. Its radial legs are fitted with small thorns, used to move and feed.
Echinometra Lucunter lives in coral reefs, where he digs holes in the sand to hide and protect himself from predators. It feeds mainly on algae and small invertebrates, which it captures thanks to its legs fitted with pliers.
This sea urchin is hermaphrodite, that is to say that it has both male and female reproductive organs.
