Description

Very decorative shell and easily acclimatizes in the trays

The Neritina Punctulata snail is a gastropod mollusc belonging to the Neritidae family. It is commonly called "points snail" due to the presence of small white dots on its shell.

This snail is about 2.5 cm long and has a reddish spiral shell with scratches and white dots. Its head is small and wears tentacles, including a longer than the others and with one eye at each end. Its lower part is fitted with suction cups to move on the smooth surfaces.

The Neritina Punctulata snail is mainly nourished by aquatic plants and organic debris. It is hermaphrodite and can therefore reproduce independently. The eggs are laid in clusters on submerged surfaces and hatch about three weeks later.

This snail is frequently found in tropical and subtropical fresh waters, especially in Central America and South America. It can also be observed in domestic aquariums due to its colorful shell and relatively small size.
